In this role we welcome candidates with interest in low voltage cabling, AV, and security fields. No experience necessary for those interested in beginning an apprenticeship – on‑the‑job training will be provided. General Duties And Responsibilities- Install low voltage copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Terminate, test copper and fiber cabling systems using certified test equipment.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Repair and install network‑enabled systems such as CCTV, access control, AV control systems, central sound, video management servers, projectors, screens, interactive displays, etc.
- Assist in keeping building common and technology spaces neat, orderly, and safe.
- Accomplish work in accordance with blueprints and specifications, national and local codes and industry standards such as TIA and BICSI.
- Update as‑built drawings as necessary, according to department policies.
- Attend toolbox safety meetings and demonstrate safety competency in addition to other recommended topics such as harassment prevention and ethics.
- Obtain an OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health standards certification.
- Extended hours or weekend overtime may be available.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Knowledge of the low voltage integration or ICT industry.
- BICSI and/or AVIXA certification desirable but not required.
- Valid driver’s license.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English and cooperate and collaborate with multiple levels of customers and employees.
Physical RequirementsThe employee must regularly walk, use fingers and hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and frequently stand. Occasional sitting is required. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, move heavy objects, climb vertical ladders, and work at heights using common hand and power tools. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The employee must also navigate to field locations and various job sites.
The work environment may include outdoor work, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical and electrical parts, high or precarious places, dust, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, cold and heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise levels are usually moderate to loud.
