Dock Door Technician

Position Summary

To identify the specific needs of existing and potential customers (internal and external), the Dock Technician will install and service dock equipment at various customer locations. The majority of work is outside, and candidates must be able to work in varied weather conditions. Dock Technicians perform high‑quality service repairs on all loading dock equipment, including dock levelers (plates), dock shelters, dock seals, dock bumpers, commercial doors, and more.

• Repair and service dock equipment and doors.
• Maintain commercial doors or dock equipment.
• Experience in welding is a plus.
• Basic electrical experience required; advanced electrical skills are a plus.
• Communicate with dispatcher to determine work schedule.
• Drive to assigned job sites.
• Have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company.
• May be required to work in a shop environment as needed.
• Communicate with customers and order/obtain parts as necessary.
• Diagnose equipment problems and offer solutions that meet customer specifications.
• Communicate appropriate information in a timely manner, including repair history and sales leads.
• Maintain a professional image of yourself and company vehicles.
• Practice and emphasize safety for self, the environment, and the public.
• Uphold the company’s vision, mission, values, and objectives.
• Act as an innovator by identifying process improvements and seeking new ideas.
• Maintain acceptable personal and work‑area standards, including professional appearance, clean work area, and properly maintained equipment and tools.

• High school diploma or GED; or 12+ months related experience in maintaining commercial doors or dock equipment and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Welding experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent, and interpretation of bar graphs.
• Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve problems involving multiple concrete variables.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Internet software.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the company’s commercial insurance.

Work varies from office to job site to industrial locations.
