Position SummaryA Field Service Technician is a client‑site facing technician who services lottery retail locations. They perform client‑site servicing, repair, installation, and relocation of company equipment and supplies ranging from communication hardware to point of sale and vending equipment. The Technician also provides training and preventive maintenance to customers on all equipment aspects.
Responsibilities- Complete scheduled and unscheduled service calls at lottery retailer locations, including installs, removals, and preventive maintenance.
- Provide positive customer experience using customer‑service and technical skills.
- Communicate value of services and match products with customer needs.
- Perform extensive field repair functions, including installs, terminal removals, communications equipment, and peripheral procedures with minimal supervision.
- Perform vehicle management functions as set by guidelines.
- Partner with the Data Center to ensure timeliness to retail locations and understand problems at each service location.
- Record service call information, log and report data communication problems to management and recommend solutions.
- Follow through on customer issues that require additional support.
- Diagnose all forms of communication issues within a retail location.
- Perform routine maintenance on company vehicles.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record per the Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Build and maintain strong, long‑lasting customer relationships.
- Solve customer challenges on the first call.
- Provide telephone troubleshooting support when needed.
- Train new and existing customers.
- Handle approximately 6 to 10 detailed activities per day, depending on area needs and service order type.
- Assist in training new and existing team members as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
Skills & Knowledge
- Pass a background check, drug test, and maintain a clean driving record.
- Able to travel overnight if needed.
- Ability to drive a non‑CDL delivery truck.
- Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of computer software and hardware troubleshooting.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer‑satisfaction orientation.
- Promptly respond to customer/leadership requests and feedback.
- Self‑starter with motivation and initiative.
- Strong organization and time‑management skills for multitasking.
- Strong judgement and problem‑solving skills to minimize customer downtime.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift, install, and move large equipment, regularly lifting or moving 35 pounds or more.
- Occasional ladder climbing.
The role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, bending, hand use, computer operation, and vision for close and distant tasks. Employees must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds, and if working in the field or warehouse, must use approved Personal Protective Equipment.
Work ConditionsEmployees may need to obtain gaming or other licences, undergo background investigations, or meet regulatory or contractual standards. Background checks are required for all hires.
