Firmware Engineering Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Firmware or Embedded Engineering Leader who is ready to step into a broader functional leadership role. This position is ideal for a Firmware Lead, Firmware Manager, or Embedded Systems Manager who wants ownership not just of code, but of teams, architecture, product delivery, and technical standards across firmware, electrical, and software disciplines.

In this role, you will lead cross-functional engineering teams delivering regulated medical devices that directly impact patient and caregiver experiences. You will shape technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and ensure firmware and embedded systems are developed with scalability, reliability, and compliance at the forefront.

• Technical and people leadership for firmware, software, and electrical engineering functions
• Firmware and embedded architecture decisions for current and next-generation medical devices
• Development and mentorship of senior and high-potential firmware engineers
• Delivery of multiple concurrent NPD programs on time, on budget, and to quality targets
• Enforcement and evolution of engineering standards, design controls, and best practices
• Resource planning across firmware and embedded initiatives in partnership with Product and Engineering leadership
• Regulatory compliance across firmware and software development including FDA and ISO requirements
• Continuous improvement of firmware development processes, testing strategies, and tool chains

• Lead firmware and embedded engineers working across multiple product platforms
• Provide hands-on technical guidance while empowering senior engineers to lead execution
• Drive design reviews, risk assessments, and architecture decisions
• Partner with Product Management to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Establish and improve firmware development standards, documentation, and validation practices
• Support and review firmware testing strategies to ensure product quality and compliance
• Mentor engineers in system-level thinking, problem solving, and technical leadership
• Evaluate complex technical challenges and guide teams toward effective solutions
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and external partners as needed

This role is intentionally broad. We are especially interested in candidates who bring strong firmware and embedded leadership depth, even if their current title is Firmware Lead or Firmware Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of engineering experience with a strong focus on firmware or embedded systems
• 2+ years leading, mentoring, or managing engineers
• Experience delivering products in regulated environments such as medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or industrial systems
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects and technical initiatives simultaneously
