Raider Immersion Intern - Team Member (ARS)

Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Team Member will contribute to a multidisciplinary student team (undergraduate and graduate) working on an open‑source, industry‑sponsored project as part of the Raider Immersion Program. The Team Member will operate under the supervision of the Team Lead and collaborate with peers to support project objectives.
The project supports Applied Research Solutions and Empennage Strategic Solutions in the design and development of a prototype Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) to help capture development‑phase engineering failure data, support root cause analysis, improve search and reporting, and preserve information needed for technical orders, spares planning, and sustainment decision‑making.
- Position FTE: 70%
- Minimum Hourly Rate: $19.00
- Enrollment at Wright State University (undergraduate or graduate level).
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet federal contract requirements.
- Experience or coursework in team‑based project development.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across diverse technical domains.
- Technical proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience in software engineering (problem decomposition).
- Scripting/programming.
- User interface design / development.
- Communicating with software APIs.
- Data analysis and modeling.
- Comprehension of standards documentation to categorize components, requirements, and failure types.
- Documented experience in making technical decisions, assumptions, identifying issues, and creating end‑user instructions.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (Computer Science / Engineering, Data Science, Mechanical & Systems Engineering, etc.).
- Work with the Team Lead and fellow Team Members to complete assigned milestones related to the FRACAS prototype, including data entry workflows, record storage, search, filtering, basic reporting, dataset population, and prototype demonstration.
- Work with the Team Lead and fellow Team Members to complete assigned milestones related to the FRACAS prototype across technical domains (Computer Science / Engineering, Data Science, Mechanical & Systems Engineering, etc.).
- Build skills as needed for project tools, methods, and software.
- Support skill building of fellow interns as needed.
- Ensure proper documentation for the end user and other team members.
- Contribute to the team in understanding, design, implementation, and testing of the technical requirements.
- Ensure the solution is user‑friendly, with clear documentation and support for future enhancements.
- Coordinate with the Team Lead to clarify technical requirements, project scope, and deliverables.
- Participate in team meetings to report progress, roadblocks, and constructively review contributions of other team members.
- Present deliverables to technical and non‑technical end‑users, including senior leaders at WPAFB and affiliated companies.
