Provide leadership, organize and monitor the flow of goods loaded and unloaded from the trucks. Provide training for dock personnel and close monitoring of safety procedures and policies.
- Assists the Retail Operations Manager and lead dock worker in managing the flow of goods.
- Train and supervise employees in procedures.
- Model excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Effectively utilize email and telephone, if applicable, to ensure communications are read and responded to in an appropriate timeframe.
- Complete reports accurately as assigned.
- Unloads or loads trucks at the dock.
- Knowledge of balers and assist when needed.
- Helps to load trucks on pick-up routes.
- Sorts merchandise into containers for processing and distribution.
- Maintains a clean and safe working area inside and outside of dock.
- Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
- Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.
Dock Workers, Balers, and Truck Helpers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education RequirementsMinimum of High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Obtain or have Forklift license.
Experience RequirementsMust have the ability to use a pallet jack, two-wheel dolly, and four-wheeled carts, as well as a forklift.

- Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Ability to pass random drug screenings.
- Ability to load and unload trucks of merchandise, including clothing, household goods, furniture, and appliances.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to relate well with a broad spectrum of people.
- Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow through with projects and assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to be self-directed, able to take initiative and exercise independent judgment.
