AboutThe Role
The Class A Depack Route Driver is essential for ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods to customer locations within the Dayton, OH area. You will operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport depackaged products efficiently while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Your responsibilities include managing route schedules, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and providing excellent customer service. This safety‑sensitive position requires a clear mind and diligence.
You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of others.
- Load, haul, and deliver food waste on intra‑ and interstate routes with 15‑25 stops per day, as determined by the company.
- Operate 30‑45' open‑top dump trailers (combination vehicles) and manual/automatic transmission vehicles per DOT requirements.
- Operate manual or electric pallet jack and utilize a pressure washer to rinse bins and containers.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and basic repairs of company bins and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and perform general truck maintenance.
- Use the electronic logging system for DOT logs and required reporting.
- Maintain paperwork (contamination and service tickets, truck maintenance records) and submit documentation as required.
- Communicate regularly with customers, vendors, and the corporate office for service, equipment, and customer‑service issues.
- Report accidents and injuries immediately to the safety manager.
- Work flexible hours, up to 60 hours in a 7‑day week or 70 hours in 8 days, and attend safety trainings.
- Use a computer and cell phone for training, communication, and expense management.
- Be prepared for interstate assignments as needed.
- Class A CDL License (self‑certified as a Non‑Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance).
- Clean MVR and PSP.
- At least 23 years of age with a minimum of 2 years full‑time verifiable tractor‑trailer experience, or 21 years of age with 1 year experience if a graduate of a truck driving school or 1 year military experience.
- Stable work history.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Regularly lift, pull, push, or pull up to 70 pounds; bend, stoop, twist, shovel, or reach overhead.
- Ability to pull/roll up to 300 pounds when working with totes.
- Manage unpleasant odors from food waste farms.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
