Position Description

Ryder is hiring an Entry Level Diesel Technician in Dayton, Ohio. The role includes entry‑level vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance, with opportunities to learn advanced diagnostics and earn various bonuses.

Pay and Bonuses

Hourly Pay: $22.50 per hour
Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification, up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
Sign‑On Bonus: $1,250 after 30 days and $1,250 after 90 days
Schedule:

Monday–Friday (weekends off)
Hours:

Second Shift 2:30 pm–11:00 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Basic tools required
One (1) year or more experience in transportation maintenance preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

Additional Requirements

Ability to understand and communicate effectively, work shift and weekend as required, perform all entry‑level tasks, and demonstrate mechanical aptitude
Knowledge of and ability to apply computer usage
Some experience in transportation maintenance preferred
Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass Ryder drug test
Pass DOT physical
Pass Ryder road test
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities

Perform basic vehicle maintenance
Identify components and perform minor repairs
Conduct preventive maintenance with training and support
Carry out facility maintenance duties
Diagnose minor mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer
Perform other related duties as assigned
