Job Title:

Industrial Maintenance Instructor

Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 "Employment of Retirees," selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.

Purpose:

The Industrial Maintenance Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction in both theoretical and practical aspects of industrial maintenance, in alignment with curriculum standards established by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and Interplay Learning. This position is focused on equipping students with the foundational knowledge and technical competencies required for careers in industrial settings, including but not limited to electrical systems, mechanical maintenance, HVAC, hydraulics, welding, and systems diagnostics.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/

Experience:

High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.

A minimum of Five or the last 10 years of verifiable professional experience in industrial maintenance or a closely related skilled trade, including electrical systems, HVAC, hydraulics, welding, or mechanical systems.

Familiarity with NCCER curriculum and online Learning platform, or a demonstrated willingness to obtain certification as required.

Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.

Possession of a current NCCER instructor certification or ability to obtain certification within thirty (30) days of employment, preferred.

Prior teaching or training experience within a vocational, technical, or industrial education environment, preferred.

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, preferred.

Bilingual fluency, with preference for English/Spanish, preferred.

* Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.

This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsiblities when working remotely.

Demonstrate the ability to deliver both in-person and remote instruction with effectiveness and professionalism.

Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records.

Major Responsiblities and Duties:

1. Plan and direct learning activities of sdult incarerated students.

2. Follow the Windham School District (WSD) curriculum guide(s) for area of assignment.

3. Participate in district staff development programs as required.

4. Attend and participate in faculty meetings.

5.Participate in all evaluations and self-studies as required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and contracting agency.

6. Serve on curriculum, textbooks, and other commitees as assigned.

7. Maintain lesson plans in accordance with the criteria established by WSD policy.

8. Maintain accurate attendance records in the manner prescribed by WSD.

9. Submit reports as required by program needs and administrative requests.

10. Give clear oral and written instructions to students.

11. Manage student behavior in the classroom that is firm, fair, and consistent in applying classroom rules.

12. Create a positiove classroom environment conducive to learning and educational growth of the students.

13. Prepare and use various methods to teach basic concepts for subject level.

14. Plan activities for individual student needs and engage and maintain the interest of students in instructional activity.

15. Administer diagnostic placement tests, achievement tests, curriculum tests, and other tests as required by the principal.
