Job DescriptionINSTRUCTIONAL AIDE
PAY GRADE: 2
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education
- Obtained an associate’s degree or higher
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality test
- Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children and knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is encouraged
MAJOR
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, if needed.
- Provide supervision for students assigned to the In‑School Suspension classroom.
- Work with students and staff on issues such as behavior management and prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in students being assigned to ISS.
- Monitor all ISS assignments, provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests and classwork, and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups or whole class.
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $13.80 to $16.56 Per Hour
