Exempt Professional
Minimum of 2 years of special ed teaching experience
Valid Texas teaching certificate from accredited college or university
Special Education endorsement
Knowledge of ARD procedures
Experience as a special education classroom teacher preferred
Director of Special Education
Teacher calendar days and benefits provided according to Board policy
Meet timeline requirements for annual ARD meetings.
Meet compliance requirements for documentation of required IEP elements.
Ensure all required notices and consents are sent within timelines and tracked through a documented system.
Assess effectiveness of ARD structure.
Coordinate schedules with lead teachers, principals, parents and others as appropriate.
Maintain positive and effective relationships with supervisor, principals and teachers.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule and local board policy.
Participate in staff development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
