Minister to Children and Students

Job Description

The Minister to Children and Students is responsible for the overall management of the children/students (infant-12th grade) of Calvary Baptist Church of Dayton including developing, implementing, and supervising this ministry. Expectations include Sunday & Wednesday gatherings, planning and preparation for these ministries, as well as any special events the church gathers to worship or fellowship. This is a part-time position.

• Maintain a personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ through daily prayer, study of His Word, and obedience to His Spirit.
• Be a Christian example to children/students in word and action.
• Maintain priorities in the following order:
  God, Family, Ministry.
• Participate in the regularly scheduled operations and meetings including worship services and other church-wide services.
• Love and minister to people.

• Plan, coordinate, administer, support and evaluate a comprehensive children/youth ministry that reaches, teaches, encourages, challenges, and spiritually nurtures all involved.
• Create an environment that makes all feel welcomed, loved and included. Work to build relationships with children/students and their families, being available to meet with them as needed.
• Coordinate team of teachers (including yourself) for weekly Bible studies (Sun & Wed).
• Enlist adults and maintain a team of children’s/youth volunteer staff to help with these tasks. Disciple, equip & motivate them to do so.
• Work with ministry assistant and pastor to order teaching curriculum, materials & supplies.
• Pray for children, youth, their parents & your volunteers.
• Communicate with and serve alongside parents of children/youth and your volunteers.
• Make sure classrooms are prepared for volunteers.
• Work with Children’s Team/VBS Team for Breakfast with the Bunny, Vacation Bible School, Turkey Trot, Donuts with Santa and other special events.
• Develop and/or coordinate regular activities outside of regular Sunday/Wednesday activities to promote bonding & fellowship.
• Support integration of children/youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to complement other church ministries.
• Work with Children’s Team, Youth Team, and pastor to accomplish all of the above.
• Work with pastor, deacons, and all volunteers to create an annual budget.
• Report to the pastor and provide leadership in other duties as needs arise or as assigned by the pastor.

• Must be a born-again Christian in the Southern Baptist faith and be led of God to children/youth
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Coursework and/or previous volunteer work with children/youth preferred
• Salary commiserate with experience
