We are seeking an enthusiastic talented and driven News Reporter/Editor who has a passion for journalism and loves chasing news stories, enjoys copy editing and has impeccable news judgement. You must possess the ability to handle “Breaking News” in a fast pace atmosphere. You will need to be able to research, develop, write, edit, news stories on deadline for on line and social media.
Participate in coordinating coverage of major stories, breaking news and specials.
- Proven reporting, writing and editing skills
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Word, Acrobat and Gmail
- Knowledge of AP style
- Ability to develop relationships with community leaders, news sources
- An understanding of the way local governments function
- Proficiency with social media applications, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Experience with content generating websites
- Ability to contribute story ideas
- Ability to shoot quality photographs, if needed.
- Build contacts and news sources within the assigned community
- Applicants must reside in Volusia County
- Full Time
