Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking an Academic Advisor I to support students enrolled through the United States Naval Community College (USNCC) partnership. This position plays a vital role in guiding students from admission through graduation by providing personalized academic advising, degree planning, and student success support. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted resource for students, collaborating with university departments and USNCC Success Coaches to promote academic achievement, retention, and engagement while delivering exceptional customer service in a dynamic educational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive academic advising to students regarding degree requirements, curriculum planning, academic policies, transfer credit evaluations, and graduation requirements.
- Develop personalized degree plans and monitor student progress to support academic success and timely degree completion.
- Proactively engage with students through phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings to provide guidance, answer questions, and address barriers to persistence.
- Support at‑risk students by creating student success plans, monitoring academic performance, and connecting students with appropriate university resources.
- Serve as a liaison between students and university departments including Financial Aid, Registrar, Military and Veteran Affairs, Student Financial Services, and other support offices.
- Promote scholarships, institutional aid programs, student engagement opportunities, and university resources available to eligible students.
- Collaborate with faculty, USNCC Success Coaches, and university leadership to support student retention and academic success initiatives.
- Maintain accurate student records and advising documentation within university systems, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Manage a large student caseload while meeting enrollment, registration, and student outreach goals.
- Assist with special projects, retention initiatives, and coverage of student files as needed.

The annual salary range for this role is up to $43,888. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree and an interest in higher education, Academic Advising/Counseling, customer service, or a related field.
- One to three years of professional experience in academic advising, student services, higher education, counseling, customer service, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Strong customer service orientation and commitment to student success.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience maintaining detailed records and working with student information systems or databases preferred.
- Comfortable conducting frequent outreach through phone, email, text/chat, and virtual meetings.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Military, whether having served, having worked on behalf of, or related to a service member.
