Job Description
Embry‑Riddle is now hiring an Assistant Director of Residential Education in the Department of Housing and Residence Life at the Daytona Beach campus. The position requires the employee to reside on campus to ensure availability for 24/7 response to assistance requests while serving in the on‑call rotation. The staff member will be provided with a university‑owned apartment as part of this requirement.
This role is designated as essential personnel for campus emergencies and crises, as determined by the Dean of Students.
- Supervise Residence Life Coordinators
- Facilitate weekly one‑on‑one meetings, bi‑weekly staff meetings, and training sessions
- Provide guidance and leadership to full‑time staff on individual and team issues
- Provide corrective feedback and written accountability for staffing concerns and employment policy violations
- Manage the RLC on‑call schedule and communicate the schedule
- Responsible for the creation, implementation, development and assessment of educational priorities
- Serve as the primary author of all residential curriculum facilitation guides
- Design and create the outline for RA and resident student interactions
- Assign activity and program responsibilities to appropriate team members
- Maintain high visibility in the residence halls by completing monthly area/facility tours
- Develop, coordinate, and implement student staff training
- Develop learning outcomes and objectives for each training session
- Communicate training expectations and schedules to resident assistant staff
- Design and execute ongoing training opportunities throughout the academic year
- Assess individual training sessions
- Communicate and respond to parent/guardian concerns and questions
- Attend weekly and bi‑weekly staff meetings
- Responsible for communicating ongoing room changes to department staff as well as students involved in the residence halls
- Occasional night and weekend commitments as needed
- Participate in the department on‑call crisis response and management rotation
- Serve as essential personnel for any severe weather situations that will impact campus
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in student development, higher education, or related field
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of related work experience in student support (housing or residence life)
- Experience designing and implementing training presentations and ongoing development plans
- Experience with residential curriculum or community development models
- Experience with software for residential/community engagement
- Experience supervising professional and student staff
