Required QualificationsBachelor's degree, from an accredited institution and one (1) year of related experience in advising, student support or customer service setting
Key ResponsibilitiesEffectively communicates enrollment information, program requirements and policies to new and prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, college faculty and staff.
Informs the same groups about College majors and courses offered on various campuses and assists students with enrollment process and determination of their educational and career goals.
Conducts an unofficial evaluation of credit to enable transfer students to register for courses. Provides intake advisement for dual enrollment and adult education students. Reviews student educational records/transcripts, discusses and makes recommendations on program of study, and communicates College policies and procedures and admissions requirements. Completes unofficial graduation check down (audits) for student progress checks.
Works with students one-on-one or in groups to review standards of academic progress (including probation and suspension) and assists with strategies to improve academic standing. Assists with screening of applicants for special admissions programs. Advises students with problems; suggest internal/external referrals/resources for difficult/extensive problems outside of training and/or expertise.
Assists students with appeals process; writes letters of support for appeals as needed and appropriate.
Maintains a current and working knowledge base of College and transfer institution program availability, program requirements, and services available as well as State mandates, requirements and regulations.
Assists with training new departmental staff and provide support for faculty academic advisors regarding advisement related questions. Maintains record system for area of responsibility, including student records, and counseling/advising sessions with students; provides regular statistical reports and other accountability data on the status of advisement goals.
Assists with campus administrative functions as directed; participates in campus student and community activities as needed including staffing booths and other activities at events or fairs; speaks to orientation groups regarding admissions and College policy and other information as required; assists with disseminating College scholarship information.
Attends staff, divisional or other meetings as directed to exchange information. Makes presentations on College programs, courses, and the mission of the College as requested or assigned.
Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.

Knowledge of or ability to learn student information systems such as People Soft and Salesforce
Knowledge of FERPA Regulations for handling student records.
Knowledge and ability to advise or counsel a diverse student population.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
Ability to utilize data and information to make decisions and projections.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, constituents, and volunteers.
Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when different demands are involved.
Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
Ability to develop and deliver training presentations and programs.
Ability to assess program needs and conceptualize new programs.
