• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units. Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately.
• Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition.
• Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
• Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
• Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
• Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area.
• Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units.
• Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department.
• Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Associate (Preferred);
  High School Grad or Equiv (Required);
  Technical/Vocational School (Preferred)
• Work Experience:
  
  Previous sterile processing technician experience (Preferred)
• Licenses And
  
  Certifications:
  
  Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Preferred);
  Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) (Preferred) or Certified Sterile Processing Tech (CSPD) (Preferred)
