Director of Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing

Overview

Brown & Brown seeks a Director of Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing to lead procurement operations and ensure alignment with company goals, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

• Define and implement an enterprise-wide procurement strategy aligned with organizational goals, risk appetite, and compliance requirements.
• Build and lead a procurement team across the organization, including current teammates and direct hires.
• Collaborate with business units (IT, Claims, Underwriting, Legal, Operations, Supply Chain) to align procurement objectives with broader business goals.
• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for key vendor categories such as IT systems, CRM platforms, marketing agencies, compliance services, office supplies, and facilities.
• Evaluate and manage procurement tools and platforms, improving efficiency and visibility.
• Manage the end-to-end procurement process: RFIs, RFPs, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring.
• Track and report on procurement KPIs, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics.
• Ensure vendor compliance with industry regulations (data privacy, cybersecurity, financial conduct).
• Establish and maintain a preferred supplier list, vendor onboarding, and risk assessments.
• Support contract lifecycle management, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture and skill development.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, preferably in professional services or financial/insurance services.
• Procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of vendor management best practices and procurement technology tools.
• Strong understanding of insurance operations, compliance, and vendor risk management frameworks.
• Familiarity with regulatory environments impacting insurance (GDPR, SOC2, FINRA/SEC guidelines).
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and procurement improvements.
• Ability to influence change and drive continuous improvement in a growing and changing environment.
