Job Overview

Director of Philanthropy – Daytona Beach College of Arts & Sciences, Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University. Reports to the Senior Executive Director of Philanthropy, College of Engineering, and works with the dean and faculty of the College to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward lead annual and major gifts.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Annual and Major Gifts: manage a portfolio of 75‑125 prospects, conduct discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; engage donors through correspondence, calls, events, and face‑to‑face visits; anticipate travel, evenings, and weekends.
  • Develop and implement written strategies and tactics for each prospect; collaborate with colleagues to achieve donor engagement and stewardship goals.
  • Unit liaison: coordinate philanthropy activities within the College of Arts & Sciences; participate in leadership meetings to understand needs and opportunities; support central advancement efforts (annual giving, major gifts, communications, data acquisition, planned giving, donor relations). Build relationships with faculty, staff, and students to engage them in philanthropy.
  • Provide guidance on philanthropic policies, practices, schedules, and best practices; ensure healthy relationships between the College and central administration.
  • Support central development: participate in meetings, maintain knowledge of best practices, and assist in achieving broader development objectives. Transfer or share assigned prospects as needed.
  • Document all interactions and complete timely, accurate contact reports in the Division’s enterprise system.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 3‑5 years of fundraising experience.
  • Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating and closing major gifts and corporate sponsor ships ($25,000+).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills.
