Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is a critical individual in interpreting both company and customer quality requirements, translating them to support all phases of the manufacturing cycle and working closely with colleagues to initiate workable quality instructions and procedures. This position requires a highly motivated and energetic individual that can work with minimal supervision and multi‑task various priorities.
Essential Functions- Quality management of strategic semiconductor account. Lead failure analysis efforts and document findings. Communicate findings to all stakeholders.
- Working directly in a class 1000 clean room as needed.
- Ability to create various PPAP’s including but not limited to PFMEA, process mapping, control plans, gage R&R, etc.
- Interpreting customer drawings and create / approve incoming inspection plans consistent with internal and customer requirements.
- Interact with quality inspectors, production technicians and suppliers when quality issues arise and take the lead to drive improvements through our corrective action process and provide follow up reviews to ensure effectivity.
- Perform ISO
9001:2015 / AS9100:2016 internal audits to ensure compliance to all internal QMS and external customer requirements. Issuance and tracking of corrective actions as applicable. - Supporting quality related functions within a machine shop environment.
- Assist department with calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment.
- Other related department requirements as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Mechanical / Electrical Engineering) preferred with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience or 7+ years of relevant direct experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Access database is a must (or the ability to quickly learn how to construct and maintain a database).
- Good working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Understanding AS9102 first article inspection process, ability to interpret technical drawings and a good understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a must.
- Thorough understanding of problem‑solving and quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., 8D reports, fault tree, PFMEA, control plans, etc.).
- Skilled in performing AS9100 or ISO
9001 internal audits, documenting findings and direct follow up on corrections. - Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Previous experience in supplier quality and development is a plus.
- Travel as needed up to 15%.
Sitting; standing; walking throughout the facility; talking; seeing; hearing; feeling; bending or stooping; squatting or crouching; reaching; kneeling; pushing; pulling; lifting up to 35 lbs. The candidate must wear appropriate/required Personal Protective Equipment and must be able to work at a desk or in front of a computer for long periods of time.
