Low Voltage Cable Technician – VOLUSIA County, FL
MCS is hiring for Low Voltage Cable Technicians in VOLUSIA County, FL. This is a full‑time, permanent position with benefits.
Applicants may be at Apprentice, Technician, or Lead Technician levels depending on experience.
Typical duties include:
- Installing card readers, door contacts, motion sensors, intercoms, motion detectors, glass break detectors, speakers, nurse call lights, push buttons, and patient stations.
- Installing and terminating all low‑voltage cabling.
- Terminating, testing, and labeling end‑user devices; building out communication rooms.
- Using industry standards and company‑approved installation methods.
- Ensuring all work complies with applicable AHJ codes and industry standards.
- Adhering to plans, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintaining open communication with direct superiors to meet quality, performance, and schedule expectations.
- Following proper safety practices.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification: Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
- Experience: 2+ years in a technical role; 2+ years in commercial building construction related to structured cabling, security, access control, CCTV, A/V, paging, nurse call, or sound masking.
- Reliable transportation and own hand tools.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to stand, kneel, and crouch for long periods; climb ladders and scaffolding; lift in excess of 50 pounds; work in high or confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends and night shifts.
Physical Requirements
- May require climbing ladders, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended durations and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Operation of motor vehicles may be required; valid driver’s license and clean driving record necessary.
