The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and overall quality of Mulva Cultural Center’s facilities. This position supports the smooth operation of building systems while also contributing to the maintenance, setup, and breakdown of spaces for events, exhibitions, and daily visitor experiences. Guided by our mission and core values, this role helps create an environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to exploration and inspiration.
Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections of building, grounds, and equipment, identifying damages and maintenance needs.
- Perform routine maintenance activities and respond to emergency repair needs.
- Execute preventative maintenance procedures and manage inventory and supplies.
- Uphold housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, safe, and inviting environment for all visitors.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to support process improvements, cost efficiencies, and enhanced visitor satisfaction.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for special activities, events, and exhibits.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and equipment issues; perform minor repairs including painting, drywall, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
- Complete compliance checks related to maintenance and safety (e.g., exit signs, fire extinguishers).
- Assist with daily grounds upkeep, snow removal operations, and support contractors as needed.
- Provide support with projects, tasks, errands, and on‑demand needs contributing to the overall success of Mulva Cultural Center.
- Two‑year degree and/or technical certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or a related field.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools; working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and general facility operations.
- General understanding of mechanical systems and parts with effective troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance, documentation, building safety, and security protocols.
- Passion for continuous learning and developing technical expertise across facilities‑related disciplines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse staff and contractors.
- Commitment to safety, sound judgment, and calm decision‑making in emergency situations.
- Displays friendliness, professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.
Ability to lift, move, and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform frequent physical tasks including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching. Comfort working in outdoor conditions and varying temperatures, including extreme weather. Ability to access and navigate all areas of the Center.
