Body Shop Painter II
Location:
Specified Cox site.
Work shift:
Day. Remote work not available. Compensation: $20.10 - $30.10 per hour base, with possible commission or incentive program.
Position Type:
Individual Contributor (Management Level).
- Follow safe operating practices and procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; assist daily cleanup of tools, parts, and equipment.
- Apply knowledge from training or on‑the‑job experience in daily tasks.
- Act with integrity, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.
- Perform basic repairs (caulking, sealing), remove decals, sand/grind, and other duties assigned.
- Use hand tools, spray‑painting equipment, power tools, lifts and jacks.
- Accurately complete documentation on Repair Orders and Karmak application.
- Maintain high productivity and work toward meeting Standard Repair Times.
- Conduct safety checks on shop equipment such as ladders and scaffolding.
- Apply ready‑to‑spray automotive refinish materials with HVLP equipment.
- Inspect panels for defects, refer issues to supervisor, and ensure booth and prep station cleanliness.
- Ensure application areas are properly vented.
- Clean and maintain paint formulation and spray equipment.
- Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound judgments.
- Communicate with the Shop Manager and support team about RO findings.
- Perform minor body adjustments on trucks and trailers.
- Work independently, manage concurrent tasks, and prioritize work.
- Support Shop Paint Technician I with materials and supplies.
- High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (or 5 years experience / additional degree).
- Valid HAPS Paint Training Certification.
- Valid Annual Respirator Fit Test documentation.
- ASE B2 (Painting and Refinishing) certification.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a paint technician in automotive or truck industry, or equivalent education/skills.
- Must possess and supply necessary hand tools.
- Complete all company‑required training.
- Determine appropriate tools and equipment for repairs.
- Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
- Accurately judge distances and spatial relationships.
- Knowledge of paint equipment and systems.
- Communicate information succinctly and organize ideas.
- Engage in effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups.
