WELDER
This position is in the shop and requires general mechanical knowledge with previous experience in wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding. This position is responsible for performing all welding activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Fabrication of equipment and parts.
- Welding, hard surfacing, and repairing equipment and parts.
- Assist mechanics in other tasks for repair.
- General mechanical knowledge.
- Previous welding experience (wire-feed, stick, cast iron, aluminum, and arc welding).
- The ability to follow and read patterns.
- Must be able to work with people and alone at times.
- Must keep work area clean.
- Must be able to use a drill press, welders, torch, and plasma cutter.
- Must have knowledge of steel.
- Exposure to loud noises.
- Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and gases.
- Exposure to ceramic, fiberglass, and/or Rockwool insulations.
- May be exposed to outside work in all weather conditions.
- Exposure to volatile organic compounds (ie. alcohol, paint spray, naptha, etc.).
- May be exposed to confined spaces.
- Work indoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
- Must have efficient hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work long periods of time including nights and weekends.
- Backup mechanics in additional shop work outside of welding.
