Summary of Primary Functions:
The Materials Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling the flow of materials, equipment, and tooling across multiple industrial engineering and installation projects. This role is critical to ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule by aligning material availability with engineering, procurement, logistics, and site execution activities. Aligned with Beck & Pollitzer USA's execution model, the Materials Manager operates in a fast-paced, project-driven environment, where timely material availability, accurate tracking, and strong coordination with project teams are essential to meeting client milestones and minimizing operational risk

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project-specific materials plans aligned with project schedules and execution strategies
  • Coordinate material requirements derived from engineering designs, BOMs, and installation plans
  • Ensure materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the correct work location
  • Manage material flow across multiple projects, warehouses, and site locations
  • Work closely with Procurement to align purchase orders with project schedules and material release dates
  • Track supplier lead times, manufacturing schedules, and delivery commitments
  • Support expediting activities for critical materials and long-lead items
  • Coordinate logistics, shipping, and delivery sequencing to support site installation activities
  • Manage warehousing, laydown areas, and site material storage in accordance with project needs
  • Ensure proper material handling, preservation, and traceability
  • Coordinate material movements between storage locations, fabrication shops, and job sites
  • Support site teams with kitting, staging, and just-in-time delivery methodologies where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate material tracking, inventory records, and status reporting
  • Monitor material consumption, shortages, and surpluses
  • Identify risks related to material delays, damage, or availability and implement mitigation plans
  • Provide regular materials status reports to Project Managers and Operations leadership
  • Work directly with Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, and Site Supervisors to support execution readiness
  • Attend project coordination and planning meetings to align materials strategy with delivery plans
  • Support schedule recovery initiatives by adjusting material sequencing and logistics
  • Contribute to post-project close-out, surplus management, and lessons-learned reviews
  • Ensure materials handling and storage comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Support internal audits and compliance reviews
  • Identify and implement process improvements across materials management and logistics operations

Experience, Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred
  • 5–10+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain roles
  • Experience with in industrial services, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or installation environments
  • Strong understanding of project-based materials planning and execution
  • Experience supporting multi-site or concurrent project delivery
  • Proficiency in ERP and materials management systems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for tracking, reporting, and analysis
  • Familiarity with bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of logistics, shipping, and inventory control best practices
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to anticipate material risks
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, delivery-driven project environments
  • Strong leadership and coordination capabilities
