Warehouse / Packaging Senior Technician – Animal Health, De Soto, Kansas
Position OverviewAs part of Merck’s Animal Health manufacturing facility, you will support the production of vaccines and biologics for large and companion animals. Your role will focus on packaging operations, including sealed bottle label application, bottle packaging, palletization, and inventory reconciliation, while ensuring compliance with Good Documentation Practices and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain packaging equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Execute daily production tasks: bottle label application, bottle packaging, palletization, and cycle counting.
- Complete process documentation and maintain records in accordance with SOPs and GDS.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and apply problem‑solving techniques.
- Assist with equipment set‑up, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Support new team‑member training and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Meet production schedules, including third‑shift availability (Monday–Friday, 9:30pm – 6:00am).
- Maintain a clean, safe, climate‑controlled work environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MSWord, MSExcel).
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated teamwork and initiative.
- Openness to overtime work as business needs dictate.
- Experience with forklift and pallet jack operation.
- Manufacturing or packaging experience.
- Understanding of aseptic processes used in manufacturing/packaging.
- Experience with quality improvement tools, continuous improvement processes, and SAP or other ERP systems.
- Third shift, Monday–Friday, 9:30pm–6:00am.
- Flexibility for overtime, including holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays as needed.
- No travel required.
- Climate‑controlled and non‑climate‑controlled areas.
- Salary range: $59,100 – $93,000.
- Eligible for annual bonus and long‑term incentive, if applicable.
