Position DescriptionThis mid‑shift Technician position is located in the SUB (single‑use bioreactor) processing department at our Animal Health facility in De Soto, Kansas. The role focuses on the production of the M.Hyo antigen—a key component of swine vaccines—through fermentation, downstream processing, and serial batching before sterile filling.
Responsibilities- Prepare and sterilize equipment and media components for fermentation.
- Operate SUBs, neutralization vessels, and downstream processing equipment, including ultrafiltration methods.
- Execute large‑scale bacterial antigen fermentation from breakout to final batch.
- Record data and maintain documentation using Good Documentation Practices.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and apply basic problem‑solving skills.
- Maintain schedule adherence and support team activities as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline or equivalent preferred.
- Proficient oral and written communication.
- Ability to follow manufacturing directions, SOPs, and regulatory policies.
- Effective time‑management skills to meet deadlines.
- Basic laboratory procedure proficiency.
- Team‑work and initiative to support colleagues.
- Proficient computer skills, including MSWord and MSExcel.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with cell‑culture techniques or protein separation.
- Understanding of aseptic processes.
- Experience using quality‑improvement tools and continuous‑improvement processes.
- Familiarity with single‑use bioreactors and mixers.
Monday to Friday, mid‑shift: 10:30AM to 7:00PM. Occasional weekend work may be required.
Salary$48,600 – $76,600 annually, based on education, experience, and other factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual bonus and long‑term incentive plans.
