Job Summary

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards during commissioning and production operations. This role works closely with employees, leaders, contractors, consultants, and vendors to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, promote safe work practices, and foster a positive safety culture.

The OHS Specialist provides technical guidance on occupational health and safety requirements, assists with risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations, supports training and emergency preparedness initiatives, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement while helping maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment.

  • Shift: 6:30 PM–6:30 AM Nights, D-Shift (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Every Other Wednesday) - Shift schedule and hours may be adjusted based on business needs.
Essential Duties Functional Operations
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of occupational health and safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Utilize and maintain safety monitoring tools, systems, and equipment to support program execution and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain regular on-site presence across assigned operational areas to support safety oversight, employee engagement, and incident response activities
  • Prepare and maintain required safety records, permits, reports, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner
  • Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and preparedness initiatives
  • Promote safe work practices through employee engagement, coaching, and observation
Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct and support risk assessments, process hazard analyses (PHA), and management of change (MOC) activities
  • Coordinate and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments
  • Evaluate workplace conditions, equipment, and operational processes to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform routine audits and inspections to verify compliance and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development
  • Track corrective actions and verify completion of assigned safety improvement activities
  • Support initiatives that strengthen safety performance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence
Training & Team Support
  • Assist in the development and delivery of occupational health and safety training programs for employees and contractors
  • Provide coaching and guidance regarding safety requirements, procedures, and best practices
