Job Summary:
The Quality Control Inspector - Level 2 performs intermediate inspection activities to ensure product quality within a high-volume lithium-ion battery manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this role applies established inspection procedures while working with increased independence to evaluate product conformity, identify defects, and support resolution of quality issues. The inspector collaborates with cross-functional teams and contributes to data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
This role builds on foundational inspection skills and expands into deeper analysis, ownership, and team support.
Essential Duties:
Functional Operations:
- Perform inspections following Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify product conformity
- Inspect products independently, analyze results, and take appropriate action within established guidelines
- Verify calibration and proper functioning of inspection equipment prior to use
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain records for traceability
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area
- Analyze inspection data to identify trends and support implementation of countermeasures
- Assist in root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions
- Recommend process improvements based on inspection findings and quality data
- Train and mentor inspectors at the same or lower level within the functional area
- Support onboarding and hands-on training of new inspectors
- Provide feedback to supervisors on training needs and process improvements
- Continue to build technical skills and apply feedback for ongoing development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to identify and support the resolution of quality issues in a timely manner
- Communicate inspection findings, trends, and quality concerns clearly to relevant stakeholders
- Support proper implementation of processes and procedures
- Participate in internal and external quality audits as required
- Maintain adherence to all quality, general plant, and company policies and procedures
- Uphold 6S initiatives and ensure area cleanliness is maintained to safety and operational standards
- Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements during inspection activities

Required
:
- High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
:
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt (or equivalent)
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry Certification
Qualifications:
- 1.5+ years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or a related role
- Working knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures
- Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and document nonconformities
- Ability to work independently within defined guidelines and escalate issues as needed
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Basic data analysis skills and familiarity with quality concepts such as root cause analysis
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of standard software (e.g., MS Office)
- Safety-conscious mindset with the ability to follow safety and PPE requirements
