Equipment Operator

This role focuses on safely moving, uncrating, and positioning large machinery and cargo used in battery manufacturing within a high-volume industrial facility. You will handle equipment and materials from trailers and shipping containers, prepare them for installation on the production floor, and support ongoing material movement using a variety of manual and powered tools.

Responsibilities
  • Unload and load cargo from trailers and shipping containers using appropriate manual and powered material handling equipment.
  • Operating large scale construction forklifts/equipment
  • Uncrate, crate, unpack, pack, and move machinery and other cargo safely and efficiently.
  • Relocate and roughly set machinery and cargo at designated locations on the production floor according to layout plans and instructions.
  • Use manual and powered hand tools, including manual toe jacks, to maneuver and position equipment.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as manual skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts to move heavy items throughout the facility.
  • Perform general labor tasks including construction-related activities, basic carpentry, and cleaning as needed to support equipment installation and movement.
  • Follow detailed instructions and safety procedures to ensure proper handling of equipment and materials.
  • Conduct heavy lifting and sustained physical labor throughout the shift while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring pathways and staging areas remain clear for safe equipment movement.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate moves and ensure equipment is placed accurately and securely.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience in a labor-intensive role, such as construction or general physical labor.
  • At least 1 year of experience in construction or physical labor environments.
  • At least 1 year of equipment operating experience, including material handling equipment.
  • Proven ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to walk 10 or more miles per day in a large facility.
  • Ability to bend, crawl, and walk repeatedly and comfortably throughout the day.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in an industrial or construction setting.
  • Comfort working in general labor, construction, carpentry, and cleaning tasks as part of daily duties.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using manual toe jacks, manual skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and similar material handling equipment.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime on Saturdays when needed.
  • Reliability in adhering to a fixed daytime schedule and completing physically demanding tasks.
  • Comfort working both indoors and outdoors in an industrial environment.

Environment

The role is based in a large manufacturing facility of approximately 2 million square feet, where you will move materials and equipment both indoors and outdoors. The environment is hot and non–climate controlled, requiring comfort working in warm conditions and on your feet for extended periods. You will use a variety of industrial tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, manual toe jacks, skates, dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional overtime on Saturdays as needed. The setting is active and fast-paced, with a strong focus on safety, clear walkways, and organized staging…
