Plan and deliver engaging Biology instruction aligned with Michigan Science Standards. Design inquiry-based lessons that emphasize scientific investigation, data analysis, and real-world application. Conduct safe and effective laboratory experiences while maintaining all laboratory safety procedures and equipment. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners. Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Foster a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking, and scientific literacy. Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to improve instructional practices and student achievement. Maintain accurate student records and grades, and communicate with parents and guardians. Participate in IEP, Section 504, and MTSS processes as appropriate. Support school initiatives and contribute positively to the school community.
Maintain professional growth through ongoing learning and district professional development. Utilizes various instructional skills and methods; varies instructional modes to accommodate student needs, interests, learning styles, and ability levels; provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students. In cooperation with the school administration, maintains school standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment.
Assess each student's progress; prepare, document, and communicate progress reports to students, parents, and school administration. Perform basic student attendance accounting and maintain and submit, upon request, accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Involve parents in setting learning goals and integrate parents into the learning processes. Administer student assessments and use the resulting data to improve student learning.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and district meetings as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
