Elementary Teacher - Kindergarten

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or Higher, Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with (ZG) Endorsement in Elementary K-5 All Subjects (K-8 All Subjects in Self-Contained Classroom) or (ZS) PreK-Third Grade (NS) English as a Second Language Endorsement preferred

Job Description:

Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate, standards-based instruction aligned with the Michigan Academic Standards. Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of all students. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, including English Learners, students with disabilities, and advanced learners. Use formative and summative assessments, observations, and progress-monitoring data to guide instruction and monitor student growth.

Develop foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional skills through evidence-based instructional practices. Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes curiosity, independence, collaboration, and responsible behavior. Implement effective classroom management practices that maximize learning and student engagement. Collaborate with grade-level teams, interventionists, special education staff, instructional coaches, and families to support student success. Integrate developmentally appropriate technology to enhance instruction and learning.

Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, professional learning, and school improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Performance Responsibilities:
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction using a variety of research-based teaching strategies. Differentiate instruction through whole-group, small-group, and individualized learning experiences. Establish consistent classroom routines and maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment. Assess student progress using classroom observations, district assessments, and progress-monitoring tools to inform instruction. Prepare and maintain lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and learning standards.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and required documentation in accordance with district policies and state requirements. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and learning opportunities. Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data, implement interventions, and support MTSS, IEP, and Section 504 plans as appropriate. Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, parent conferences, and other school activities as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid. The employee must be able to move about the assigned location unaided during the day.
