St. Anselm Catholic School is seeking a Middle School Social Studies & Religion Teacher who is passionate about Catholic education, committed to academic excellence, and dedicated to building meaningful relationships with students.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Create a well-managed classroom where students feel safe, respected, challenged, and accountable.
  • Establish clear expectations, consistent routines, and appropriate boundaries while maintaining a positive relationship with students.
  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in middle school Social Studies and Religion.
  • Help students understand history not simply as a collection of facts, but as a story of people, choices, cultures, ideas, and the development of civilization.
  • Teach Catholic Religion in a manner that supports the teachings of the Catholic Church and helps students grow in their relationship with Christ.
  • Build authentic relationships with students and demonstrate genuine interest in their academic, personal, and spiritual development.
  • Recognize that middle school students need both structure and encouragement as they grow in independence and maturity.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage different learners and provide appropriate differentiation.
  • Monitor student learning through formative and summative assessment and use data to adjust instruction.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
  • Be receptive to feedback and demonstrate a willingness to grow professionally.
  • Participate actively in professional development and continually seek ways to improve classroom instruction and student engagement.
  • Communicate professionally and consistently with parents and colleagues.
  • Serve as a positive Catholic role model through professionalism, integrity, compassion, and personal example.

We seek someone who understands that the ultimate purpose of a Catholic education is not simply academic achievement. We want our students to become young people who know their faith, understand their responsibilities to God and others, recognize the dignity of every person, and are prepared to live lives of virtue and service.

Our Social Studies teacher should help students understand the world they have inherited and their responsibility to contribute positively to it. Our Religion teacher should help students encounter the Catholic faith and recognize that their education is ultimately ordered toward knowing and loving Jesus Christ.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Studies, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Catechist preferred
  • Appropriate teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
  • Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.
  • Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
