Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Overview
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Associate will manage financial records, perform account analysis, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. The Accounting Associate will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities- Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
- Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and total accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
- Audit invoices against purchase orders, research discrepancies, and approve payment.
- Investigate problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.
- Compute and record charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items.
- Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and review for accuracy.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts with various registers.
- Compile cost reports and revenue and balance sheets.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
- Reconcile report discrepancies and problems.
- Code data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
- Review, balance, interpret computer reports, and make corrections.
- Assist employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of accounting concepts and functions.
- Must be able to read and understand work instructions.
- Must be able to complete required paperwork and report information utilizing Plex or another required software.
- Must be team oriented.
- Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Must have the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
