Position Overview

Commercial Floor Resources is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of commercial flooring projects and grow into a future Project Manager role.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in building a career in commercial construction. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Account Managers, Estimators, Purchasing, Warehouse, Field Operations, and installers to help keep jobs moving.

This role is a training ground for future project leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination.
  • Help review scopes, estimates, drawings, schedules, and job requirements.
  • Assist with material orders, purchase orders, work orders, equipment needs, and project documentation.
  • Help coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, field teams, and installers.
  • Track project details and make sure information is accurate in the company system.
  • Follow up on missing information, order status, material status, and schedule changes.
  • Assist with change order documentation.
  • Help prepare project files for billing, closeout, and completion.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and vendors.
  • Support job handoffs, project updates, and administrative project tasks.
  • Learn how to manage commercial flooring projects from start to finish.
What Success Looks Like
  • Project Managers are supported and not buried in administrative tasks.
  • Information in the system is accurate and up to date.
  • Materials, work orders, and purchase orders are not delayed because of missing details.
  • Communication is proactive.
  • Follow-up is consistent.
  • The APM learns the business, understands the process, and grows toward managing projects independently.
Qualifications
  • Construction experience preferred, but not required.
  • Flooring experience is a plus.
  • Strong organization and follow-up skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn commercial construction and project management.
  • Comfortable working with details, deadlines, and multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Positive attitude and team-first mindset.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through.
