* JOB SUMMARY:

** Provide clerical support and information regarding financial aid, primarily in the areas of scholarships, student employment and third-party billing. Serve as a contact for state and local agencies involving third party billings.  
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
* Assist in the file complete process, including the review of student eligibility. This includes processing proof of high school graduation (ATB).
* Generate revised award letters and record the acceptance or rejections of aid by students.
* Support the processing of private scholarship authorizations, academic scholarships, and athletic awards, and adjust student aid packages as needed.
* Assist with the processing of state scholarships and awards.
* Process and record donor scholarship checks.
* Assist with the processing and coordination of employee/employee dependent tuition waivers.
* Coordinate third party billing processes between governmental, state, local agencies and private organizations.
* Perform clerical functions related to the student employment program. This includes balancing the amount of student earnings with payroll reports for each term.
* Prepare financial aid sheets for new student orientations.
* Assist, as directed, with processing the removal of financial aid for students who have requested to withdraw from SVSU or who have failed to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
* Certify release (verification) of scholarship forms. Verify scholarships/grants awarded to students in addition to cash paid out so that their businesses will reimburse them.
* Generate/process various office reports including the finalization of awards and the Deregistration Report for each semester.
* Assist Campus Financial Services Center with questions from parents and students about financial aid procedures.
* Assist with front desk reception of visitors and callers to the office, including basic clerical duties.
* Other duties as assigned.  
** SUPERVISION RECEIVED**:
Functional and administrative supervision is received from the Associate Director of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*** High School Diploma or equivalent, and additional education, training or certification in a related field.
* Three years of job-related clerical experience, preferably in higher education, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, basic math skills and oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated customer service skills and interpersonal skills to interface with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
* Personal computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite) and ability to learn specialized software programs, including web development.
* Ability to work cooperatively and communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
* Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and accept direction from multiple and diverse staff/faculty members.
* Ability to organize, prioritize and expedite workload, working under occasional time pressure.
* Ability to occasionally handle differing, non-routine work situations and problems by exercising independent judgement and initiative.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of files and records.
* Ability to learn technical/discipline specific terminology.
