Position Summary
As an entry level position under supervision of a program manager and/or field supervisor, this role ensures the economic welfare of the State of Michigan by inspecting and verifying compliance of commercial weighing and measuring systems used in handling, storing, and dispensing consumer products.
LocationPosition will be located in either Kent or Otsego county, based on selected candidate.
Responsibilities- Inspect and verify commercial weighing and measuring systems to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Enforce state laws and regulations relating to weighing and measuring devices and commodities used in commercial transactions.
- Respond to consumer complaints and conduct inspections in the areas of retail and wholesale agricultural, petroleum, and manufactured products.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). May be required to operate a designated state vehicle.
- Two years of experience in a supervisory or managerial position involving manufacturing, operation, maintenance, or inspection of electronic or mechanical equipment such as scales, pumps, motor vehicles or parts; or one year equivalent experience.
- Completion of two years of college (15 semester credits) in industrial or electronic systems technology, computer technology, industrial engineering technology, metrology, mathematics, physics, accounting, finance, or a related scientific measurement field may substitute the experience requirement.
- Preferred eligibility for a regular CDL issued by Secretary of State per Public Act 346 of 1988.
