Business Consultant, Business Analyst

Position Summary

Serves as a business function expert on one or more teams, representing the operational interests of one or more business units. Identifies various business aspects of projects that may need modification during changes in the project’s design and development. Provides guidance and training to other team members and business partners to improve performance. Develops and analyzes data models and reports and prepares recommendations for management review.

Conducts application and technology demonstrations and briefings to various groups and levels of management. Provides expert advice, guidance and counsel to team members and business partners. Leads activities related to conducting complex analysis, evaluating alternatives and making recommendations for innovative and effective business solutions. May lead a team of individuals to complete specific project tasks.

• Develop and analyze data models and reports, and prepare recommendations for management review.
• Conduct application and technology demonstrations and briefings to various groups and levels of management.
• Provide expert advice, guidance and counsel to team members and business partners.
• Lead activities related to conducting complex analysis, evaluating alternatives and making recommendations for innovative and effective business solutions.
• May lead a team of individuals to complete specific project tasks.
• Develop project and business objectives, requirements and cost-benefit analyses as projects and business plans are initiated.
• Update the status of project and business solutions to management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop, review, revise, and update documentation pertaining to project and business activities (specification documents, online help, testing procedures, etc.).
• Coordinate, develop, and define the test strategy and approach for departmental and project activities including unit, system, and acceptance testing.
• Provide expertise and make recommendations regarding changes and enhancements to applications and technology across multiple business areas.
• Act as a liaison between assigned department or project and internal and external contacts.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• Project coordination and/or leadership experience
• Business planning and consulting
• Researching, analyzing, identifying and resolving moderately complex to complex business problems
• Participation on project teams
• Developing data models using spreadsheet applications
• Analyzing data models and reports and preparing recommendations for management review
• Providing guidance to less experienced staff and team members
• Preparing written proposals and reports

Knowledge and

Skills:

• PC software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, MS Project)
• Project management tools (GANTT, Pert charts, Project Professional, MS Project)
• Planning, organizing, and decision making
• Analysis, compilation, and interpretation of data
• Preparation and presentation of materials
• Achievement of stated objectives within the designated timeframe
• Exploration of alternative approaches to existing processes and project objectives

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including report generation and presentation of major reports

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Operations Research, Information Technology or related field

Experience:

• Experience with Sabre and/or other travel technology systems

Knowledge and

Skills:

• Knowledge of Salesforce and Axis
