The Senior Industrial Designer will work under the direction of the Global Brand Design Manager to bring the corporate brand identity to life on Ford and Lincoln vehicles through innovative and visually compelling badging and branding elements. This role involves translating the brand vision into tangible designs that enhance the vehicle's appeal and ensure brand consistency. You will help lead and shape the visual identity of the company across the vehicle portfolio and drive brand excellence through innovative and brand‑aligned vehicle designs.
Whatyou’ll do
- Brand Translation:
Develop and refine compelling design concepts for vehicle badging and branding elements, ensuring alignment with the overarching corporate brand identity that provide visual interest to our customers. - Collaboration:
Work closely with our engineering, shops (for prototyping), and studio design teams to ensure a unified visual language across all vehicle designs. - Prototyping:
Create detailed sketches, 3D models and prototypes of badging and branding elements that effectively communicate design intent and functionality. - Trend Integration:
Stay updated on industry trends and integrate relevant trends into design concepts to keep the brand innovative and forward‑thinking. - Technical Feasibility:
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs are feasible and can be effectively manufactured. Support engineering to create class‑A surface. - Feedback Incorporation:
Receive feedback and iterate and evolve designs based on stakeholder input. - Presentation:
Present work to the Director of GBX. Collaborate and support the GBX team in preparing and delivering compelling presentations to communicate design concepts and progress to internal teams and external partners. - Brand Consistency:
Act as a protector of the brand identity, ensuring all designs maintain brand consistency and adhere to established guidelines. - Documentation:
Maintain and follow the detailed documentation of design files, design processes, decisions, and project milestones. - Mentorship:
Provide guidance and support to our team and partners, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or a related field. - Experience:
5+ years of experience in Industrial Design, preferably within the automotive industry. - Proficiency in 3D design software such as Alias, VRED, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong understanding of automotive design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create high-quality sketches, 3D models and renderings.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for consistency and quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with design thinking methodologies and user‑centered design.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $96,720–166,200.
