Position Description

This position is responsible for the long‑term planning and day‑to‑day operations of the studios, labs, equipment loans and classrooms used in the Digital Media Arts Program.

Essential

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support full‑time faculty by communicating lab and studio staffing needs and participating in interview processes as requested; final staffing decisions remain with faculty.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day operations of labs and studios, including efficient scheduling and coverage, in alignment with priorities and guidance set by faculty.
  • Actively assist students during lab and studio access hours.
  • Oversee and participate directly in equipment check‑in and check‑out processes, working alongside students to ensure proper handling and use.
  • Guide students in selecting appropriate equipment based on assignment requirements and faculty‑defined project parameters.
  • Track equipment usage, lab/studio utilization, pricing, and spending, and provide semester‑based reports to faculty for review and decision‑making.
  • Communicate purchasing needs and spending requests to faculty for approval; does not independently authorize expenditures.
  • Assist with coordinating equipment purchasing, maintenance, and repair activities in collaboration with faculty.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab and studio equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
  • Complete minor equipment repairs within established guidelines and report larger repair needs to faculty.
  • Research tools, equipment, and vendors and make recommendations to faculty; coordinate with appropriate departments to follow approved vendors and required processes.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of equipment for instructional use, projects, campus events, and scheduled activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common technical and equipment issues in labs and studios, escalating complex problems as needed.
  • Support faculty by researching and recommending equipment needs related to budget planning; final decisions remain with faculty and administration.
  • Coordinate the organization, readiness, and appropriate use of rooms and spaces associated with the disciplines.
  • Maintain a punctual and professional on‑campus presence to support students, faculty, and lab/studio operations.
  • Utilize technology, including AI‑enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support the effective performance of assigned duties, while ensuring compliance with confidentiality requirements, institutional policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by faculty.
Hours / Schedule

Up to 25 hours per week with variable hours (nights, evenings, weekends).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a Digital Media Arts related curriculum, or a minimum of 1 year of Digital Media Arts related work experience, or at least 3 years of other relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems and hardware.
  • Proficiency with industry‑standard editing, graphics, and animation software.
  • Willingness to constantly upgrade software and hardware skill sets.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make necessary changes to complex systems.
  • Ability to coordinate details and collaborate closely with diverse staff.
  • Ability to make purchasing recommendations as needed.
  • Successful experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all staff members and faculty.
  • Effective and persuasive communication skills with varied audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage changing demands.
  • Ability to use workplace technology relevant to the position, including learning and leveraging emerging AI‑supported tools, assessing accuracy of AI‑generated content, maintaining confidentiality, and applying ethical practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency with relevant program software and technology.
Compensation

Hourly rate: $23.79.
