The Reading Specialist provides targeted literacy intervention and instructional support for students with reading difficulties, while partnering with classroom teachers to strengthen reading instruction across the school.

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate;
  Reading Specialist endorsement (RX) strongly preferred
• Valid elementary teaching certification to hold an interventionist role.
• Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.
• Satisfactory criminal background check

• Deliver intensive one-on-one and small-group literacy intervention based on individual student need.
• Develop and maintain individualized Reading Instruction Plans with ongoing progress monitoring.
• Administer reading assessments and use results to adjust instructional strategies.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers.
• Maintain accurate student progress records in compliance with school and state requirements.
• Communicate with parents regarding reading goals, progress, and strategies to support learning at home.

• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
