Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants are reviewed when the department has an immediate need. They will stop reviewing applications for the semester once the vacancy is filled. The Music Program at Lansing Community College is seeking adjunct (part-time) faculty to teach Applied and Private Lessons to Voice and/or Piano students. Faculty may have the opportunity to teach other courses in the Music Program.

Responsibilities include participating in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. They will also participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and implementing college initiatives. Additionally, they will participate in student assessment initiatives within the program and college, and implement the determinations of those initiatives.

They must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment.

LCC policy requires all employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

• Master's Degree in Music from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Master's Degree in a related field (regionally accredited) with at least 18 semester hours of graduate-level Music coursework.
• Alternative qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Music or related from a regionally accredited institution plus 2 years of professional experience.
  • Associate's Degree in Music or related from a regionally accredited institution plus 4 years of professional experience.
  • 6 years of professional experience.

Applicants must provide unofficial copies of transcripts for all higher education institutions attended. For foreign credentials, a NACES‑approved evaluation must be submitted with the application.

Applicants lacking these required documents will not be considered.

• Experience teaching at a college level (may include graduate teaching assistant).
• Experience leading an ensemble such as choir.
