Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Instructor (part-time)

Mott Community College.

Part-time position, negotiable compensation, benefits unknown.

Responsibilities

Faculty facilitate student learning and participate in efforts to improve student success. Assess learning outcomes and teaching effectiveness, adhere to professional standards, and maintain licensure as required. Teach classes in Computer Aided Design and Drafting, present information, respond to questions, and provide student consultations beyond the classroom.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Aided Design, Applied Science, Industrial/Technical, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 30 credit hours in Computer Aided Design & Drafting specialty courses from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in design/engineering, directly involving CAD tools to create products, structures, machines, or tooling.
  • Professional experience with CATIA.
  • Understanding of and commitment to community college teaching, mission, and philosophy.
  • Innovative, flexible, and positive teaching style and ability to support students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Language skills sufficient to read, analyze, and interpret professional documents; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effective presentation skills.
  • Mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and to work with probability and statistical inference.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled forms.
  • Technology skills to integrate computer applications into teaching.
  • Ability to apply current research and theory to instruction, plan lessons aligned with college objectives, establish collegial relationships, and communicate orally and in writing.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • Professional experience with Unigraphics, Solid Works, and Auto Cad.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Certification in CADD software packages.
  • College teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with competency-based modularized courseware and instruction.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Mobile approximately 2/3 of the time, stationary 1/3.
  • Converse regularly with individuals; interpret needs via phone, face-to-face, or written communication.
  • Utilize computer programs independently and efficiently.
  • Present information and respond to questions in instructional settings.
  • Lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • When applicable, tolerate exposure to chemicals common in the industry, handle and mix chemicals safely, and wear appropriate PPE.
Work Schedule

Part-time faculty are not required to hold regular office hours during the semesters they teach but must make provisions for student consultations as necessary.

Additional Information

Must be available to teach onsite; online-only courses are not offered.

Selected candidates must submit to a drug test and criminal background check.
