Salary: $40,000 (actual salary is commensurate with education and experience)
SummaryThis position is a live-in position, coordinating the administrative responsibilities and retention programming of the Davenport University campus living community. Primary responsibilities include the supervision of the daily operations of a living community for students. This includes the development of residential students, the supervision of resident assistant staff, student leaders, and other student employees, the management and oversight of facilities, facilitate crisis management, develop and execute programming and effectively collaborate with other university departments.
These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Coordinate the daily operations of the apartment communities of Panther Woods and Panther Ridge.
- Serve as a student conduct officer by using an educational approach to develop students.
- Provide administrative leadership for department functions including room assignment process, housing contracts and assignments, building opening and closings (breaks) and summer camps/conferences.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and leadership development of resident assistants and other student staff.
- Assist with the development of departmental materials (handbook, brochures, staff training & procedure manual, etc.).
- Coordinate on-call coverage and crisis management for housing students.
- Manage the physical keys for apartments, both external and internal, and in partnership with Public Safety.
- Assist in the development of students through programming and managing concerns and requests as needed.
- Coordinate retention efforts and other programming for students living in the residence halls (academic, social, diversity community service, career development, leadership development, and wellness).
- Monitor academic progress of students in collaboration with advising and make appropriate interventions and referrals when needed.
- Maintain the physical needs of the building in collaboration with facilities.
- Process student and parent/guardian complaints and concerns.
- Maintain a visual presence and leadership example as you bring the students together in the community.
- Maintain continued commitment to the Student Affairs Profession through Professional Development.
- Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred in a related field.
- Residence Life / Student Affairs experience required.
- Must be able to work and live on campus.
- Experience managing, hiring, and coaching a staff preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
- Must have a valid driver's license and transportation to be able to respond to student concerns and / or emergencies on campus.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to donors, alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
