Job Overview
Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.
Openings- 1st need: high school functional classroom teacher must have cognitive impairment endorsement
- 2nd need: elementary emotional impaired teacher
- Design and implement specialized instruction in one-on-one, small group and large classroom settings.
- Work collaboratively to plan and modify curriculum, team teach with general educators and to communicate the abilities and needs of special education students.
- Develop, implement and review for appropriateness the behavioral plans for designated students.
- Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to conduct IEP and referral meetings, conferences, and to develop a multidisciplinary approach to the educational enhancement of the student.
- Maintain ongoing communication with regular educators, school staff, students and parents.
- Create a safe supportive and understanding environment for disabled students.
A minimum of a BA/BS degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology or other related field is required. Teaching certificate required. Preference will be given to those with experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Responsibilities- Instructing individuals with autism in a wide variety of skill areas, including (but not limited to) language, social interaction, academic skills, daily-living skills, self-help and advocacy skills, recreation and leisure skills.
