Job Overview

Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.

• 1st need: high school functional classroom teacher must have cognitive impairment endorsement
• 2nd need: elementary emotional impaired teacher

• Design and implement specialized instruction in one-on-one, small group and large classroom settings.
• Work collaboratively to plan and modify curriculum, team teach with general educators and to communicate the abilities and needs of special education students.
• Develop, implement and review for appropriateness the behavioral plans for designated students.
• Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to conduct IEP and referral meetings, conferences, and to develop a multidisciplinary approach to the educational enhancement of the student.
• Maintain ongoing communication with regular educators, school staff, students and parents.
• Create a safe supportive and understanding environment for disabled students.

A minimum of a BA/BS degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology or other related field is required. Teaching certificate required. Preference will be given to those with experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.

• Instructing individuals with autism in a wide variety of skill areas, including (but not limited to) language, social interaction, academic skills, daily-living skills, self-help and advocacy skills, recreation and leisure skills.
• Collecting and graphing data.
• Communicating with colleagues and parents.
• Providing home support services to the family.
