Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Dean of Health and Human Services, the Director of Nursing is primarily responsible for the administrative functions of the Nursing Program including planning, direction, organization, and operation of the nursing education programs and Henry Ford College (HFC). This position provides leadership in the development, revision, evaluation, assessment, improvement, and maintenance of the Nursing Program. Represents the college in the community to establish and maintain effective relationships and contracts.

Assures the program is compliant with federal, state and accreditation standards. Provides leadership for fiscal planning and budget considerations to accomplish program goals. The Director of Nursing supports the College's mission, vision and values and fosters a cooperative relationship with faculty, staff, students, and the community. This position requires a commitment to diversity, excellence, student engagement and success.

Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Current Michigan License as a Registered Nurse (or eligible with 30 days of employment)
  • Two years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Two years of full‑time teaching experience in an accredited nursing program
  • Knowledge or experience with program accreditation
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent analytical skills.
  • Must have a collaborative management style, demonstrate the ability to maintain a positive working relationship with college personnel and representatives of various external agencies, and possess the ability to work effectively with students and staff in a multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Nursing, Education, or Administration.
  • Two years of Leadership, management or supervisory experience
