ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll be able to do:
Thermal System Calibration Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Dearborn office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Dearborn, MI. Lead wind tunnel and road testing to calibrate the climate control system in support of program milestones.
Deliver globally consistent calibrations that meet climate attribute performance objectives. Lead suppliers of the Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (DATC) and Heat Pump Valve Control Module (HPvCM) to define and manage calibrations. Collaborate cross functionally with Electrical, Powertrain, and R&A organizations to implement and calibrate key parameters of the strategy. Support attribute engineers in analysis, review, and signoff of individual calibrations which require wind tunnel testing and data acquisition.
Define Design Verification Methods and plan testing to support calibration development. Support new climate control strategies in support of our company’s electrification objectives. Support new features and strategies with a cross-functional team to meet new Human Centric Design needs, and/or optimize energy efficiency of the system. Domestic Travel Required up to 20%.
You ll have...
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
1. Utilizing thermal systems hardware, including traditional AC systems (fixed, scroll, and variable compressors) and heat pump technology used in electrical vehicle applications.
2. Utilizing thermal systems software to facilitate system function and operation. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
1. Leveraging data acquisition systems to analyze system behavior.
2. Developing detailed vehicle test plans based on specific system requirements.
3. Conducting vehicle instrumentation set up and testing.
4. Designing Wind Tunnel and Dynamometer test cases and plans– for specific real-world conditions including ambient temperature, humidity levels, and solar loading. 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
1. Using CANape and/or ATI Vision for calibration and software development.
2. Developing scripts to automatically run data acquisition procedures to gain efficiencies.
3. Using Matlab and Simulink to develop simulations and test calibration proposals prior to performing vehicle level sign-off testing.
