As Paint Implementation Engineer, you will be responsible for installation and commissioning of Paint related equipment, including but not limited to the following:
- pretreatment
- electro‑coat
- paint curing ovens
- spray booths and automation
- miscellaneous booths (process enclosures)
- process decks (sealer, repair, and other)
- environmental abatement systems
- general mechanical and electrical systems supporting the paint processes
You will also be responsible for budget tracking, purchase order issuance, and site co‑ordination (including safety). Success in this role is dependent on your organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills in working with plant personnel, purchasing, paint technical specialists, and suppliers.
Responsibilities- Support portions of larger scale projects or handle the full implementation of smaller scale projects.
- Co‑ordinate the development of scopes of work, engineering criteria and project timelines, relying on input from multiple sources to develop bid packages.
- Support purchasing activities to meet aggressive project cost targets.
- Serve as primary liason with site management team for all aspects of implementation coordination.
- Develop robust schedules that in many times must support very tight shutdown windows.
- Verify all Ford safety standards are adhered.
- Verify Ford standards and guidelines are adhered to during commission of tooling.
- Maintain project cost tracking data.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in automotive manufacturing
- 5 years of project management experience or maintenance supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint applications
- Willingness to work on cross‑functional teams on issues related to Safety, Quality, Cost, and the Environment. Develop strategies for implementing balanced solutions.
- Have strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work in plant environments dealing with a broad range of personalities.
- Comfortable working in an environment where problems are not always well‑defined
- Able to travel and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with automotive paint shop processes and emissions
- Ability to translate complex technical information into business insights, develop action plans, and present to a non‑technical audience
- Ability to prioritize efforts, work independently, and progress multiple initiatives concurrently
