Role Summary

We are seeking a Theme Development Engineer to support early‑phase vehicle design and feasibility work. This role partners closely with Design Studio, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to translate design intent into production‑feasible vehicle surfaces and concepts. The focus is on A‑surface integration, vehicle packaging, and design feasibility rather than downstream manufacturing execution.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or automotive equivalent

3+ years of experience in:

  • Complete vehicle layout and packaging
  • Body and Trim systems

Technical Skills

CATIA – independently able to create complex 3D proposals (near‑expert level)

CAD / CAD Design – advanced 3D modeling and concept development

Strong understanding of vehicle feasibility and surface integration

  • Master’s Degree
  • Basic experience or exposure to:
  • Design Release Engineering
  • Familiarity with:
  • Automotive production processes
  • Design studio feasibility tools and workflows
  • Experience leading or presenting work to decision‑making forums
  • Lead studio property setup and data integrity, including ride height, manikin drop, and overall suitability
  • Own Design Feasibility FC Process from FC0 through K6
  • Complete and manage:
  • Design Development Checklists
  • Hard points Plans
  • Integration of aligned plans into surface models
  • Lead A‑surface integration, balancing thematic intent, functional needs, and vehicle attributes
  • Guide initial theme setup and development, often ahead of supplier or functional inputs
  • Develop and maintain Surface Scaffold files to support physical and digital modeling
  • Provide concept alternatives to reconcile design vision with functional and program constraints
  • Optimize and balance studio inputs while considering future design possibilities
  • Manage design data flowing into, within, and out of the design studio
