General Summary
The Process Mechanical Designer will coordinate design activities with project engineers and other team members in the Process Mechanical group. The design responsibilities include preparing and developing Process Mechanical related project deliverables, ensuring deliverable quality, performing project assignments, attending meetings, providing feedback to management and engineering, collaborating with other engineers, performing basic system‑related engineering calculations, participating in design development activities, and assisting with implementation support.
EssentialFunctions
- Understand basics of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes for systems to be designed, including paint and coating application process & equipment, fluid handling, waste treatment, pneumatic and hydraulic applications.
- Create and plot drawings from sketches and marking‑up notes.
- Produce CAD/Revit drawings from engineering mark‑ups.
- Measure, sketch, and verify existing conditions of equipment, building, etc.
- Retrieve plant reference drawings and perform field data gathering.
- Understand and be familiar with applicable governmental safety codes & standards (IBC, ICC, OSHPOD, ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, NFPA).
- Review client specifications and safety codes as they relate to assignments.
- Maintain project records and daily personal records of communications.
- Prepare or edit project specifications with project teams and clients.
- Participate in client review meetings of drawings and specifications.
- Produce system as‑built/as‑installed drawings from red‑lined mark‑ups.
- Perform field checking of existing equipment, sites, and facilities, including travel to sites to review equipment or systems and document findings.
- Accept travel to field assignments to promote project success.
- Prefer Bachelor Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Prefer 1–5 years of related work experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Familiarity with BIM 360 and Navisworks preferred.
- Working knowledge of process system engineering and design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
